Kaleo and I met up with Ami + Riley at Macy’s Cafe in Flagstaff. We had such wonderful conversations getting to know each other. They are both from Arizona. They were born in the same hospital, on the same day!!! HOW COOL + ROMANTIC IS THAT?! They realized this after they met and started dating in high school. After high school, they moved to Kansas together for college. Eventually, they found their way to back to AZ, and are super excited to get married in beautiful Sedona, Arizona!
Once we got our caffeine fix and a bite to eat, we ventured up towards Humphrey's Peak to do a beautiful, sunset, engagement photoshoot nestled amongst the wildflower meadows and pine and aspen forests! They had mentioned they had never gotten professional photos in the 7 years they have been together thus far. Kaleo and I were stoked that we got to break that statistic for them! We loved photographing these two because they are both so sweet and down to earth. We especially enjoyed witnessing their transformation from being a bit unsure of themselves in front of the camera, to warming up, and finally just OWNING the spotlight. The love they share is so obvious and made it a breeze to photograph, I mean just look at these photos!
Ever since the first phone call, it's been nothing but fun and easy working with Michelle. I could immediately tell that she was organized but also super upbeat and chill at the same time. It wasn't surprising to find Casey to also be awesome too!
Kaleo and I met Casey and Michelle in person right before our photo shoot at Indian gardens Cafe to learn about their story. Michelle and Casey experienced their first dance together in middle school. They always had eyes on each other and ended up dating in high-school. They decided to go on separate paths after high school. Casey decided to go to the armed forces while Michelle pursued her degree in college. Both experienced dating other people but in the end, fate brought them back together again.
Their engagement session took place at one of my favorite trails... West Fork Trail! It was a beautiful sunny day with the clouds moving in and out to provide filtered light that made all the colors in nature pop! One of our favorite parts of the photoshoot was incorporating some of the props that Michelle cleverly brought. BUBBLES were so much fun and got everyone laughing =) and I LOVED photographing scrabble words to spell out CONNOR in their hands. We are super happy with how the photos turned out because the bright sunflowers and natural beauty of west fork trail compliment their upbeat bubbly personality and special bond.
Kaleo and I had so much fun at Enchantment Resort taking photos of a proposal for Mitch + Hannah! Hannah was so HAPPY! Mitch not only surprised her with a trip to Sedona for their third year anniversary, but he also got away with a flawless proposal!
It is amazing to think that Hannah didn't even know she was going to be in Sedona, let alone be hanging out in a fancy resort with stunning red rock views and a ring on her finger!
I had a wonderful morning getting to know this little puppy named Boon! Isn't she precious? I always enjoy photographing puppies and couples. Kaleo and I also loved spending some time getting to know Marc & Heather and for once it wasn't at Aumbase Sedona or SYF. If you haven't heard about the Sedona Yoga Festival ... you should check it out! They do a fantastic job running it and making it super special =)
Marc + Heather explained to us that Boon was named "Boon" because she felt like a gift from heaven! Their close friend was in Colorado picking out her own puppy when she had the urge to pick out another on for Marc and Heather. She saw Boon and the eye's and the markings on the dog made her think of them. Without question she brought Boon home to Mark and Heather. They met Boon at the airport with tears of joy in their eyes.
When we first met at ASU, I noticed that Daniella was the nicest one in the class and that she was stylish, outgoing, positive, and eager to learn about art and photography. We naturally became fast friends while pursuing our Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography.
The other things that Dani and I have in common is a love for outdoors, dogs and we are both in steady, long-term relationships. Kaleo and I occasionally met up with Andy and Dani to get a drink together, but we were all so busy, with school and work, it was a rare occurrence. After school, they moved to Oregon and we headed north to Sedona, only to stay in touch via Instagram.
I was practically jumping up and down when she messaged me that she and Andy were coming through Arizona and wanted to get together. She offered to take engagement photos of Kaleo and me, and I, of course, wanted to photograph their beautiful faces too!
Dani and Andy just finished hiking the first half of the Pacific Crest Trail right before we met up. I chose to do their photos at the McDowell mountains in Scottsdale Arizona because it was the perfect backdrop for such an adventurous couple!
Spontaneous photo shoots can be some of my best work! We did this one on a whim =)! Mike and Laura were visiting Sedona this past weekend and they hadn't expected to do a photo shoot but decided last minute to get some maternity photos by the creek! Oh I am so happy they did because I am so in love with the light pinks and greens and sweet essence of each photo. It was super easy to take photos of Laura because of her inner beauty that was shinning from the inside out. Mike was so awesome jumping in on the photo shoot when ever I requested. I don't know about you but I love the photos!
Thank you Mike and Laura for making me feel super loved and appreciated! <3 xo
My favorite part of this whole photoshoot was meeting and getting to know Sophia, Isabella, and their parents Karla and Juan! They are such a heart warming and welcoming family. My second favorite part was texting my 3 and 6 year old nieces that I was photographing a real princess. My nieces were just as excited as I was about these beautiful photos. =)
We planned the photoshoot to happen at three different location so we could photograph Sophia in her beautiful, quinceañera dress with three different backdrops. The first photos were taken at the beginning of Huckaby Trail where we took advantage of the beautiful Sedona Red Rocks. The second location was in oak creek canyon for that fairy tale feeling and lastly we went up into the pines at the Oak Creek Vista Overlook to capture golden hour and sunset.
Kaleo and I drove away from this photoshoot with so much joy and love in our hearts. We LOVE working with sweet families like this one. I mean how gorgeous are these photos? And her quinceañera dress is sooooooo FUN!
