Maria & Justin Sedona / Oak Creek Canyon Overlook

10/14/2017

From the moment I met Maria on her wedding day I was like YES another perfect match! This girl is awesome and this wedding is going to be good! While she was getting ready she had on a cute and sporty baseball jersey and tall socks.

Right away, I was obsessed with her big curly hair and big friendly smile. Her mom, grandma, best friend, nieces, and yes, even her dog, Caliber, all gathered around in her hotel room in Sedona to take part in the pre-wedding excitement.

Once she finished her hair & makeup, her mom helped Maria zip up her dress for not only a classic photo but for lifetime memorable moment. Maria then slipped into her cowgirl boots and placed the perfect bow tie on her best furry friend, Caliber.

We then left Sedona and headed up to the look out point between Oak Creek Canyon and Flagstaff. It was a goregeous fall day. The leaves were changing into their autumnal yellows and oranges and the weather was sunny and comfortable. As I followed her family to the ceremony location, I was surprised to see it wasn't at the popular over look (the place where all the tourists go to see the breathtaking view of the canyon).

The spot they picked was a more intimate and secret location. It was tucked away in beautiful trees right alongside the ridge with just the amount of room to fit a bride, a groom, and their immediate family members. The beautiful blue-green walls of Oak Creek Canyon added richness to the fall tan grasses and brown tree bark. I wonder if it was a coincidence that the groom was dressed in tan, brown, and blue. Hmmm. Well played, Justin. This loving, friendly, happy couple enjoyed a beautiful ceremony full of heartfelt moments, laughter, and tears of joy.

When the ceremony ended this close-nit family surrounded Maria and Justin offering lots of hugs and warm smiles for our group photo, which feels like a big group hug. As the family left for the restaurant reception the bride and groom stayed for portraits. With stunning backdrops we captured some very loving and light hearted shots of the happy couple…and of course their sharp dressed, friendly furry child, Caliber.
