I'm falling in love with photographing people with their pets!
Nala and Eric are originally from Minnesota. Can I just say how much I love their accent?! Besides that they are really fun to talk to and super easy going. They also lived in Colorado for a few years before deciding to try out the Arizona desert to be close to some dear friends. They love to wear comfortable casual clothing and joked several times about how living in Scottsdale is such a drastic change from Colorado because you feel like you have to dress up just to leave the house. I told them they should consider moving to Sedona because people wear whatever they want here =D
They LOVE their pets! They have 3 Dobermans and one tiny Russian Toy. They also have A LOT of cats... so many that Eric wouldn't give me a number! :-o I really appreciate their Dobermans’ names.... Bentley, Porsche, and Tesla. The littlest dog is Nika. Nika's breed, Russian Toy, was recently approved as a new breed in the US and Nika competes in several dog show categories (nose work, agility, barn hunt).
I chose to take them to Red Rock Crossing not just for the beautiful Red Rock backdrops and reflective creek but also because I knew that the leaves would changing for fall. We had a perfect day with intermittent clouds. I was super impressed with their dogs’ good behavior. Nala and Eric kept telling me that the dogs usually behave better. THAT was hard to believe! I found out the dogs had all been through some OUTSTANDING dog training.
After shooting photos at Red Rock Crossing, we also wandered along a hiking trail not far away and came across some more great views but also a lot of cactus. :-( Unfortunately, the dogs were not too familiar with cactus and so we did have to pick little cactus spines out of their legs by the end of the photo shoot. I was relieved that Nala and Eric were not upset by this just excited to get great photos of their fur babies.
After sending them the first sneak peak of photographs, Nala wrote back "WOW! These are absolutely amazing- we are both speechless! Neither of us dresses up (ever), so it’s weird to see us looking "fancy" :)” Eric said, "Who are those people with our dogs?" Ha ha! This made me smile and laugh out loud. I love it when my clients are more like friends!
Nala and Eric, you are two truly delightful people to be around! We had A LOT of fun getting to know you and all the pups. I can't wait to meet all your cats someday too =) Thank you for being so wonderful. I can't wait to meet up again! Please, stay in touch.
